Reiki for Cat
« on: September 30, 2004, 06:45:19 AM »
Hello,

Yet another animal story. I hope I'm not boring you all to tears.  I just want to share in the hopes that it encourages some of you to try Reiki on animals, or anything else that you wouldn't think to work with.

This is about a friends cat, who is aptly named Cat.  He is a beautiful blue eyed siamese who is shall we say a little feisty?  He doesn't like a lot of people, and will not hesitate to give out warning bites if you are encroaching on his space.

When we got to our friends house he asked if we had seen Cat - in fact he was worried because the cat had not been home for a while.  Just as we were discussing this, guess who came home! Yep Cat made an appearance.

It wasn't 5 minutes later, and Cat jumped up on my lap and started purring.  I softly asked him if he wanted Reiki and his purrs became a little bit stronger. Then the Reiki started to flow.  Cat sat down on my lap and pushed his right shoulder into my right hand. He sat this way for a few minutes then pushed the back of his neck into my hand.  Then a few minutes later he turned and pushed the top of his head into my left hand.  Now this is the oddest part, after he got what he needed on the top of his head, he pulled back and sat with his face about a quarter of an inch away from my hand. And did he sit still then!  Not moving, and keeping that little bit of distance. :o  After he got enough treatment on his face, he turned his body so that the neck and shoulder received more energy.

During this session I didn't feel a lot of heat in either hand, but the heat I felt emanating from Cat's body was quite amazing! Especially on his shoulder and neck.  Cat kept working these positions until he was done. It lasted about 10 minutes.  Suddenly the heat seemed to dissipate, and shortly after that he jumped down and strolled away.

My friend watched this with interest, then went on to explain that Cat had been in a back yard brawl a few days ago (that explained the tuft of fur missing on his head, and the mark on his ear) .  He was sure Cat got it pretty good since the cat would not go outside for the next few days.

So after all this, I got the feeling Cat was using the energy to help heal the remaining soreness from the fight. As well, I got a sense he was using it to work on the emotional impact.

It was quite an interesting experience!

With light and love,

The night I picked up my cat, I had to drive home with her in a carrier. It was a good hour drive and she was in total panic over being in a carrier. My instinct was to open the carrier my son was holding and to drive with one hand on her. She calmed right down. My son, whom I had also picked up at an airport a few hours before, was amazed considering how upset she was. It took her almost another month to even get close to me. The first time I found her within a foot was me, I was sleeping and woke up to her curled up near my right hand.  For a few more nights, that became an early morning ritual for her. Then she got brave. I started waking up in the middle of the night with her bumping my right hand and the Reiki flowing. To this day, 4 1/2+ years later, she still will insist on my right hand from time to time. When ever I meditate or am doing any type of Reiki, she is immediately there, wanting attention.  There has only been one other person she has ever willingly gotten near and that was the electrician's helper 4 years ago. Otherwise, when people are around, she hides.

By no means is your story boring, Featherpoint.  :)  I always find animal stories interesting.  Actually I wish I some reiki animal stories that I could share!
