Thank you for starting this thread!
This is exactly where I feel Reiki not being complete as a DISCIPLINE! Or should I say the Western Reiki is incomplete in my opinion since in Japan they do practice the Usui style.
We should try and understand that according to Usui's teaching one is to meditate on Reiki every day (Hatsurei-ho), one is to live Reiki and not just take it for granted as some on the West will do like "here you attuned" "here me attuned lets heal" ... without going through one owns awakening (which can take some time). There is more emphasis on me as a student healing others (especially the fancy distant healing method) than healing my self to awaken my own Spirituality Higher Self.
Reiki comes from within. Some might say but the Cosmos is out there all around us, and I say no it is not, it is right (all) inside of us

We are the cosmos where we Reikis should start focusing on especially in the beginning as a student, and not seeking Reiki "out there" coming in me and then me trying to get the proof of a feeling in my palms, physical vibrations, etc ...
Reiki is a complete discipline if we are ready to get into our manuals Usui Sensei's techniques such as Hatsurei-ho which is there to enhance the Reiki channel and our Spiritual growth. It is to be practised every day and that is called dedication. The more you give the more you get back.
West would like to get (instead of dedicating work) miracles which happen overnight

one can not blame us for our culture/society did teach us Ego based approach to life in general

I feel it is time to complete/get together Usui Reiki teachings and techniques, deepen our Western contacts with our fellow Reikis from Japan and establish for all times the actual Usui Reiki discipline including the VERY IMPORTNAT part as Hatsurei-ho.
Students ask you what they should do to enhance their Reiki

well tell them to use what Usui already thought us to do (dear Takata missed that part because of politics after the second world war not because it is meant not to be used). Let them practice
Hatsurei-ho and be there with them and give them often
Reiju.
There is nothing bad in doing Yoga instead or some other sort of meditation but why oh why can we not have a complete Usui Reiki which already exist, so I as a student don't feel that there is something missing in our Reiki discipline.
Please Masters, try and start teaching Hatsurei-ho to your students as a VERY important technique of Usui Reiki, we will all benefit from it and it will strengthen the integrity of our Reiki discipline in other peoples eyes

I believe Madam Takata would have continued to teach Hatsurei-ho and other Usui techniques if people on Hawaii were more friendly towards "Buddhist Meditation" after the 2nd WW don't you think?
