Usui-do or Usui Teate
« on: April 17, 2005, 10:27:08 PM »
Hello again my friends :)

((hugs))

I have recently been curious about what is called the 'original' version of what is now Reiki...and I have heard that this form is called 'Usui-do' or 'Usui-Teate' and is usually only taught through direct lineage and select individuals.

I have also heard that it is based more on what Mikao Usui originally focused on, which was self-development rather than healing others.

Is all of this true? I've tried googling the two school types to see what I can come up with as I would love to learn more, but there is so little out there.

Do any of you know anything about this?

((hugs as always...))

Hi Meljen

Not wishing to hijack your question at all, but you have hit on a point dear to my heart. I cannot answer your question however have always seen Reiki Healing as a by product of the practice. Reiki to me is far more than the healing of self for others. That is how I believe we eventually BEcome reiki.

I am sure others will answer the question you asked but just wanted to comment on that aspect, an aspect I believe is often lost.

Hi meljen,

I haven't every heard the term Usui Teate before. But this website may give you some information:

http://www.geocities.com/fascin8or/reiki.html

James Deacon who put that site together has done extensive research on Usui Reiki, from it's origins to how it has evolved over the years.  I'm sure you will find it interesting reading.

I do agree with what you said, TOny. I'm just interested in learning how the systems evolved...I like learning where the systems came from and what was originally taught and why.

I guess I'm stepping out of my intuition state of mind and letting my logical mind take over briefly here, just from a learning standpoint. :)

Featherpoint...I love that site you posted in your reply. I've visited it MANY times. He gives a brief background on Usui-Teate and Usui-do...but unfortunately that is all I can find just about anywhere I look.

Alright, well perhaps I should take this as a sign. I've learned some interesting things so far, and I do not regret beginning this search. :)

I always LOVE learning all that I can. I am very inquisitive, lol.
 ;D

((hugs to the both of you!))

light and love,
meljen
