SRI Forum - Acceptable Use Policy
These guidelines are meant to ensure the beneficial use of the forum for all members. We appreciate your help in adhering to them so we can maintain an enjoyable atmosphere for everyone who finds their way to our boards.
What is an acceptable post?
We ask you to remember that this is a family forum, and we have members with many different sensitivities to certain issues. Acceptable postings will have your thoughts and opinions expressed without content which is abusive, harassing, spamming or otherwise upsetting to our members. If there are any posts deemed inapprorpiate, we will first ask the poster to modify or remove it. If the post isn't changed after requesting, it will be moved to internal boards for discussion by moderators/administrators and possibly deleted.
Spam is considered posting topics or messages on our forums that contain no point, posts which have no relevance to the theme of the forum, multiple posts that are repetitive in nature over a short period of time, or posts containing subject matter that doesn't directly allow other member participation.
You agree not to post any copyrighted material unless the copyright is owned by you or by this forum.
Keep the focus
Each forum has a specific purpose. Please post your topic on the most appropriate board. It will make the boards more manageable for the moderators, as well as more readable to the members.
Hijacking of threads
Sometimes threads become hijacked – that is the conversation drifts very far away from the original posting. In these incidences, moderators may use their discretion to split the topic in an effort to retain the original context of the thread and create a new thread with the hijacked portion.
Signature lines and Avatars
Please keep your signature brief. You want your message to be the main topic for the members to read.
Avatars should be kept to a size of no more than 150 pixels wide. That will ensure that all the text in each message is aligned for easy reading.
Multiple accounts are not permitted.
If you wish to change your user name for whatever reason, please contact the moderators or administrators.
Your account is for YOU only.
You may use your account to post your opinions, your thoughts, and your views within the guidelines stated on this page. You may NOT use your account to post for people who are not members or have had their posting permissions removed. You also may not grant others access to your account.
Working within moderator/administrator guidelines.
If at any time you have concerns with actions or behavior you view in a moderator/administrator, please let us know. If you are not comfortable addressing the mod/admin directly involved, please PM or e-mail any other member of the team.
Advertising and solicitations are NOT permitted.
Posting of advertisements and solicitations are inappropriate on this forum. The exception to this rule is to inform others of sites that provide a service to benefit them. For example, posting a thread regarding a new free web space provider is acceptable providing there's nothing in it for you except the satisfaction of helping your fellow members. If you are unsure, please ask the moderators/administrators for clarification.
