Grounding Yourself
« on: September 21, 2003, 08:50:05 PM »
Try this imagine the white reiki light entering your crown chakra and moving slowly down your body through the other chakras, then down both of your legs, and into your feet, then going through the earths crust and slowly moving to the center of the earth, next imagine the energy moving slowly from the center of the earth, and up through your feet, legs and moving slowly up your body too your crown chakra, repeat this three times, it is very good for grounding yourself b4 using reiki. :)

Lovge and Light,

Mick

Yes.
To me, the best way to ground myself is to do my duties in life, to face personal issues and to work physically.

Another good exercise is to imagine you're a tree, with deep
roots in the ground. The energy goes into the earth and back
to you.
Imagine this for just a couple of minutes, but like others say
it's best for once a day, probably when one wakes up.

Sincerely,
Andrej

Yep, that's also a good way to ground one self. Taiji masters of China are practicing this for centuries...

GROUNDING GOOD!
For anyone reading this that doesn't ground them self I strongly recomend you start.  Grounding yourself before reiki lets any energy that needs to leave you go out your feet.  This keeps a nice smooth flow of energy going and lets out anything you don't need.

a very pleasant mediation you can try involves the same visualization used for grounding. imagine above you is a cloud of white/blue energy (if you're in a room...if outside, a light shinging on your crown works too). below you, your feet have grown rots that dig deep into the earth, as far as you can imagine. as you inhale, you draw in energy from above, that moves down your front, and draw energy from below that moves up your back. on the exhale, you release the earth energy through your crown, and the crown energy to the earth.

rememebr though, as with any meditation, a visualization is a visualization is a visualization. energy follows thought, and can take any form you imagine. use whatever visualization works best for you. if the root anology is difficult, imaginet that your feet are on top of wells, or perhaps pillars of light.

Hi Bharani,
Grounding means imagining that any extra or unwanted energy is flowing out of body through feet and tail-bone.This is done to open the ground cords.Like we earth our electrical equipments. One way that I know is to imagine yourself as a tree, with feets as the roots. This is done while sitting and not crossing the legs. Imagine reiki entering through crown , flowing through all the chakras, washing the system as it flows down , then entering the earth. I also imagine it to be a two-way job. After it goes down , I imagine it coming back to me in a refreshed way.
love,
Mini

well bharani, the way i understand it, is that reiki for the most part does go where it is needed, but reiki is like any other energy work. when we heal, we cultivate the energy (or possibly bring in others with it) and as such can overload. being overfull with energy can be uncomfortable, so we ground to shed the excess, as minimath said.

Hi Bharani,  Many healing and awareness processes have a grounding element to them.  I like this part of your question.
so why should we do a grounding and also how should it be done

Now that you have asked the question it will be much easier for you to choose a method.   The one that suits you will probably be the best one.
Feeling that the energy of you and the universe is harmonised is one way of 'measuring' your grounding.  This is sometimes called being connected to the earth. Feeling your feet on the ground can do the job.  Some people hug a tree.  Some lay on the ground, some connect through their aura.
I like visualising myself standing in a muddy field.  Mud and water up over my ankles and soft green grass up to my knees.  On hot days the grass and mud is cool and on cold days the whole lots gets nice and warm.  A bit of childhood happy memory in that I suppose.
Choosing an easy and comfortable process is also important.  There is not much use in having a process that takes 15 minutes to do if you only have 5 minutes to do it.  Mine takes 1 breath.

I could mention standing on a warm, golden sand beach with crystal blue water lapping at my feet.   :)    except I won't out of consideration for folks in cold places.

Sounds good to me  ;D  I might even take in that scenario on Sunday afternoon, although the waters a tad chilly at this time of year ;)
