Hi everyone;
Well, sadly, just before Christmas I went out and found our dog, Jazmyne (16 months old) dead in her dog house. It was quite a shock to us, especially to the girls, and there were a few sad days around here. We had an autopsy done to find what happens and the vet found 6 quills in her intestines that had gotten quite infected. Thankfully tho, she went pretty fast.
I picked up her ashes this afternoon and teared up in the vet office. I thought I would have been over that by now..LOL. But I have come to realize that our pets are just as much a part of our families as our children, spouses, whomever. It was a loss that we felt greatly.
We received a lovely card from the vet clinic after she passed as well with a beautiful writing in it that I wanted to share with you. It is probably quite common but nevertheless, it is beautiful!
Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.
When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge.
There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together.
There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.
All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by.
The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.
They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent; His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.
You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.
Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....
This weekend the girls and I will find a lovely spot to put Jazzie's ashes and have a little ceremony for her.
We still have our Jake that I brought home from the pound in August. I loved him from the beginning but, beyond the obvious fact that his life was spared because we took him in, I believe now that this was also why he came to us. Because Jazzie was only to be with us for a short time. Trust me, he's getting showered with affection now and he is loving every minute of it.!!!
Take care
Love
