Is there ever a bad time to get attuned?
« on: July 21, 2009, 10:35:01 PM »
I ask because recently I've been getting closer in my mind to getting an actual Reiki 1 attunement - since I am not working full-time at the moment I thought it might be a good time to focus on practicing a lot etc. But also, events in my life at the moment have become extremely stressful - so I wondered if being in a state of extreme stress and anxiety is the wrong frame of mind for becoming attuned and should I wait until these stressful events have passed?

The answer is that it all depends on you, and how you feel.

If you feel that the events in your life will be a distraction, chances are that you're right -- but the choice of how to view the situation lies with you. Self-treatments could actually help to reduce stress for you right now, if you want to look at it that way ;D As cheesy as it sounds, I think you need to follow your heart.

I have come to believe that in order to be effective, the focus of any healing modality should be the process, rather than the method.

Here's a bit of explanation:

At one time, I was attuned to "Ethereal Crystals" in addition to Reiki. The reason why I don't use it any more, apart from its being a mental exercise that I didn't want to bother with, is that it struck me as just another way for the practitioner to feel "in control" during the treatment, since he/she gets to choose precisely what "tools" to use at any given time. On the other hand, it seems to me that Reiki is about surrendering that control -- letting go of effort and allowing the healing to occur.

Being in control carries with it the responsibility of having perfect knowledge of what caused a problem and also how to fix it, which is never the case. After one reaches enlightenment -- which, believe it or not, is one of the goals of Reiki practice -- this sort of knowledge loses importance.

Just as unnecessary distractions or flourishes incorporated into the different "styles" of Reiki will interfere with our ability to heal ourselves and others on a deep level, so do our thoughts affect what we are able to accomplish in any given situation.

I hope this helps! And excuse me for ranting ;)

so I wondered if being in a state of extreme stress and anxiety is the wrong frame of mind for becoming attuned

Reiki as well as Crystals will accelerate changes in ones life through awareness and release. I started using Crystals in January this year for the first time and they already helped me to sleep better, become more aware of what is going on around me etc ...

My Crystal studies led me into Reiki mostly so I could self heal, cleanse and re-charge my Crystals and to help the aquarium fish I was working with at that time (and to to heal family and friends of course)

My plan was to only get Reiki 1 for doing this but then in May I figured it is easier to use Reiki when attuned to Symbols, so I decided to get attuned to Reiki 2 as well.

Reiki 1 attunment detox was interesting ... I suddenly stopped using nicotine, I stopped drinking alcohol and I left my VERY VERY STRESFULL JOB  :) You see this job made me go to see my shrink back in October last year and I so wanted to leave that job but had fear to do so because of the world crisis etc ...
Reiki, together with guides and angels made this Job go away, so I could start fresh and grow spiritually.

I did the Reiki 2 one day after I stopped working  :)
I find that Reiki 1 cleansed and aligned my physical body and removed physical obstacles from my path.

Reiki 2 on the other hand is healing/aligning my Mental and Emotional bodies and it is rocking my boat  ;D My major problem is Emotional/Mental to start with and there are sooo many traumas to deal with. I started becoming aware of how much Ego is controlling my life and that my pride is closing doors to others and new possibilities ... I have seen my Fears as an illusion build by my Ego Monkey Mind ... I could feel the unbalance between my Spirit and my Ego ... I became aware of my procrastination habit ... etc ... etc ... etc ... I am still in detox and learning not to fight my ego but to embrace it and understand it.
Reiki is not a quick fix in my experience, but a deep healing through awareness and release. This can take some time .... a few weeks for some and a few month or even years for others.

The thing is, one must decide for it self "Do I want to live in illusion my Fear Ego has build, or do I want my Spirit to be free" The way to spirituality might be a bumpy ride, but ask your self "what do I loose", since right now you see for your self how you react to things in your life with stress and anxiety (the Ego way). What can you loose by being attuned to Reiki and which you might miss?  :)

Reiki 2 helped me to find a new profession in my life. I am to study in September to become a certified masseur  :) and I am to start Aikido and Iaido soon. You see, Reiki is teaching me that Reiki is not the only thing one is to use to start feeling better. Reiki will indeed help to accelerate changes through becoming aware of what we need to do to cultivate our SELF all the time. For some it might be writing, others Aikido or maybe Meditation or it could be Salsa dancing  :D

Thanks for the replies!

Well I've decided that I would like to get attuned when I feel like I do have time to relax and enjoy the process. For now I'll just keep doing what I do with the 2x reiju gifts I have 'received' and using my crystals. When I get reiki 1 I want to be in the frame of mind that says "yes, this IS the right time!!" - if I'm not in that frame of mind then it's obviously not the right time.  ;)

Thank you!

Good luck on your path ;D

EDIT: Since you have received reiju (twice, even), there's a good chance that you already have a reasonably strong connection to reiki. Of course, you needn't use it until you're ready; but although reiju is much more than just a way of passing "attunements," that is an effect of reiju, and part of its nature as a method of empowerment. Really, when you're ready, all that's left is to take the actual teachings. Some (myself included) advocate using 4 separate empowerments for "level 1," but you could already be halfway there :D

Well yes, I'm certain that the reiju empowerments have given me some lasting connection - I got them last year and I can still feel it working. I wasn't sure whether it would be long-lasting or not, but at this point I think it is. I do think that I could do with more boosting though to get things 'up to speed' - so this could be either reiki 1 or maybe another reiju empowerment. I should do some more reading first and go from there. The second reiju empowerment was much stronger than the first, my chakras were well and truly responding for days afterwards! Knowing that I may be very responsive in this way after attunements, it's worth it to me to be in a relaxed frame of mind with time on my hands to work with it. :)

Thank you!

I was busy and stressed when I had reiki 1.. this was not good, looking back, I did not enjoy as I could have done, e.g. not so many meditations and reflections on things that came up etc..
