Usui Reiki level 1 attunement problems - what's going on?

Hi,

I had a Usui Reiki level 1 attunement just over 2 weeks ago. I was very ungrounded after the first session, but OK after day 2. I've always had a tendency to feel ungrounded, and always been very sensitive to energy / atmosphere as far back as I can remember.

Anyway, I was getting way too much energy coming to me after the attunement - felt like I'd been plugged into a strong electrical current at times. I'd accidentlally touch myself and whoaahhhhhh - huge energy. Although I've learnt to drain most of it away through my feet, I still feel I'm getting too much of what feels like the wrong sort of energy for me. As a result, I haven't slept well for 2 weeks (it seems to be getting even worse) - and I've been experimenting with ways to block the energy, without much success. Also, I've been going into rather odd trances - even did that at the supermarket checkout the other day. Hmmmmm.

I don't know if this is relevant, but I was managing to tune into energy before my attunement - by relaxing - during a period when I was receiving reiki foot massages about once every 4-6 weeks, and even when I wasn't - but that energy felt far more calming - and actually helped me sleep very well.

Any thoughts and guidance would be welcome as I'm very confused about my 'symptoms'. It's difficult to know what to do.

Are you grounding daily?
Are you drinking water daily?
Have you discussed this with the person that attuned you?

Yes, I had discussed with the person who attuned me before I posted here, but they seemed as confused as I am, and have upped my drinking water intake and grounding work, but still the excess of energy is there. And the insomnia. Any other suggestions and thoughts would be helpful.

After my First Attunement to Usui Reiki I  I experienced tons of energy burst and Insomnia...

What I did was ground myself daily and throughout the day.  I'd imagine a roots on the bottom of your feet and they will go down into the core of the earth and attachment themselves.

When I would get these burst I would also work on myself;  what my gut feeling was for all this energy coming in was I needed work on myselve and what better way for the Divine to tell me - they just sent it!!

I went through alot of emotional detox during this period and a lot of doubt!!  But there was light at the end of this lession and I Sleep!!!

Reiki still flows when it wants at times but I just ask where it needs to go and sent it!

Hi Lorcan

I hope things have settled somewhat now. You have me intrigued. Other than its' strength, why does the energy feel wrong for you?

In retrospect I had a wonderful experience with my level 1 attunement, although at the time life was very stange and  more than a little trippy . It was summer and everything just went technicolour on me!!! I would drift off looking at flowers trees and stuff!!!
 
There was also a period of extremely heavy emotional cleansing. There was not one single part of my life and my being which was not completely intensified -  leaving me feeling almost raw. It was amazing, dreadfull, awe inspiring and scary! But through all the crazy stuff there was the love that is wthin the core of Reiki holding me up and supporting me. When  things eventually settled I was able to begin to appreciate the amazing gift I had been given.

You have just started on what will be an incredible path, I hope you have begun to enjoy it. If you haven't yet , try not to worry - things will get better. This is Reiki we are talking about after all - so how can they not! The road may be a bit rocky at the start - but believe me - the view further on  makes the effort completely worthwhile!

How is your energy flowing? Did you try balancing your chakras? Sometimes an imbalance chakra can disturb energy flow!

Thank you so much for your post Unicorn - it was really helpful.   

Moonbeam - I can't really describe how it felt wrong - it just did. I gave up doing my daily self-reiki, because it was very unpleasant indeed in terms of energy overload. I know I was supposed to practice every day, but I haven't been.

I'm now in the 4th week since attunement and starting some chakra work - and it's doing good stuff, also - energy levels have fallen so I've just started doing self-reiki now. Sleeping a little better. Thankyou so much for your kind words  .

Archy - you got me doing chakra work and that's doing good  - I think the attunement perhaps accentuated imbalances?

The 21 day clearing can be like a detox or sewer flush.  You can feel all the toxins and neg states.  It can be no fun.

All is good thanks - energy settled right down after a few crazy weeks. Everything much more in balance now
