New Add-on Reiki Styles - where do they come from
« on: December 04, 2009, 09:50:00 AM »
Hi friends,

I was wondering why do we have so many Add-On Reiki Styles?

Is Usui Reiki not enough? Is Western Reiki really so weakened that people have need once attuned Masters to Add-On some new system to Usui Reiki?

Why the NEED for it? There must be a reason behind so many ... and I say sooo many new New Age Reiki Styles.

Is it because western Usui Reiki teaching system feels incomplete? If so, why not taking training in the Traditional Reiki style instead of Adding-On new styles?

I know Usui Sensei got touched by Reiki on Mount Kurama during meditation but how do others get attuned to the add-on energy styles? Do they meditate and get "hit" by a lightning, or they get to see them selves under a Rainbow? Or does one simply imagine a new system, draw a few new symbols, give it a new fancy name and hand it over to the Placebo effect and see what happens?

Can someone shed some light for me over this issue, thank you!
At the moment I am Usui Reiki 2 and the more I contemplate about Reiki the more I see the importance for Reiki as a discipline/teaching to be preserved as thought in the days of Usui/Hayashi. I believe Reiki Teaching needs defragmentation and to be compressed back into the Traditional Usui Reiki  :)

Some folks are always looking for new
and improved.Reiki itself is simple and
passive.I believe that because it is so
simple that folks add to it feeling that it
will offer more energy. IMO simple works.
It all comes down to a matter of choice.
Healing happens either way simple or add
ons.  ;D

  Hi,

 Well...That`s a good question. 200+ styles...

Western Usui Reiki...incomplete? Usui Reiki isn`t incomplete because, it`s not that complicated to begin with. Attunment to 4 symbols, lots of meditation...lots of healing time initially...Gassho, Hatsurie_ho...precepts...simple. If one is sincere in their heart, and does the work, and has been attuned in a good manner, by a responsible master, Usui Reiki, I believe is all one needs...

I would say that most attunements, in the various styles, still look alot like an Usui attunement, until a certain point is reached. I`ve been attuned to Komyo as well. I was drawn to Komyo because of the teacher, and what was taught in the system. So I practice two different styles of reiki. I`m very glad I studied Komyo. It was a great experience. But really, considering what I know now, Usui is all I needed to begin with...

You used a great word "defragmentation", perfect...wish it could happen. Would it not be amazing to know what Usui passed on to Hayashi, in a factual way? Everyone wants to know...nobody ever will...lol

I think there is enough information available, if one looks long and hard, to develope a practice in Usui Reiki, that should leave one wanting nothing more.  I think one can sum it up in that saying I keep running into...."look within"
