How can I Help ?  Stories and Reflection on Service.  Was an instrumental book that both validated and helped me to refine my natural positioning in this life.  Helping can be an art. As we all know, there are well intentioned people that try to help and often either screw thinks up or actually hurt someone.  This book supported me in evaluating how I might be able to help in productive and fruitful ways.

My life totally changed after reading the holy Quran
If some of you have a strange view of islam, i really prefer to read the holy Quran and it will open your eyes.

I would say definitely definitely The Power of Now and its sequel, A New Earth . They are fantastic, every sentence rings with truth, and they are easy to understand even while talking about very deep powerful concepts. Written by Eckhart Tolle, a truly enlightened being.
Also, The Alchemist, by Paolo Coehlo, and on the same kind of theme but more about enlightenment, Siddhatha by Herman Hesse.
If you're into Yoga or Eastern Philosophies, then Autobiography of a yogi is fantastic too.

There are so many! But I think those are the best. I also agree, Conversation with God books are awesome and zo is Richard Bach, specially Illusions, and The Bridge Across Forever. And One. All good stuff.

Good luck!

From this ive gone onto reading lots of Dr W Dwyer, Lousie Hay and Esther and Jerry Hicks books

Hi Everyone,

I am curious which books changed your life.  I know that there is that one book that changed how you seen yourself, your life or your world and I would like to know which one it was and how! :)

The reason I am asking this is because I am trying to start a business and would like to have some insight on which books I should stock or look into carring.  Your help is very much appreciated!

Thank you,
Tessa :)

Seeing such an old thread pop up is kind of nice, and having it ask this question is too cool.  Out of the 50 odd years of reading I've done, from secondary school, through college lit. and after, including many of the books that have been mentioned in this thread, it took having my son introduce me to a series of books to remind me that things usually aren't as dark as they seem, and life really can be pretty awesome, if only we'll let it.

That series of books was The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy.

Thanks for all the fish.  ;-)

"Far out in the uncharted backwaters of the unfashionable end of the Western Spiral arm of the Galaxy lies a small unregarded yellow sun. Orbiting this at a distance of roughly ninety-eight million miles is an utterly insignificant little blue-green planet whose ape-descended life forms are so amazingly primitive that they still think digital watches are a pretty neat idea."
.......
....... "The histroy of every major galactic civilisation tends to pass through three distinct and recognizable phases, those of Survival, Enquiry and Sophistication, otherwise known as the How, Why and Where phases.
'For instance, the first phase is characterized by the question How Can We Eat?, the second by the question Why do we eat?, and the third by the question Where shall we have lunch?'

'Hey Earthman? You hungry kid? said Zaphod's voice.
