Little story about a doggy

Just wanted to share this with you guys.

My colleague Tom lives about 20km away from work. Yesterday his car was broken and he had to cycle all the way home (45 minutes and it's about -12 degrees C here, so he didn't want to do it as it's just freezing but had no choice).

Well, half way home this doggy suddenly appeared and started following him. He stopped and stroked it and tried to shoo it back in the direction of his home, but doggy was having none of it 

So he cycled the remainder home, followed by doggy all the way.

When he got back, he called the Police to report it, and within 15 minutes the owner called up to come and get him.

Well when this lady appeared, the first thing she did was slap the doggy round the ears. Tom and his wife got chatting to her and mentioned that if they hadn't been able to find the owner, they would have loved to have kept the doggy. So she tells them, ooh, you can have him if you want. They were totally overwhelmed and said OK!

Then she says, ok bye then Bruno and leaves. Just like that!

It's the cutest German Shepherd/crossed with something else doggy. (I saw the photos ) They had been talking about getting one for ages, then suddenly this one appears out of nowhere!

There was a reason why his car broke yesterday 

Except now his wife has realised that he will actually be a lot of work and isn't sure whether they want to keep him... he has gone home to try and work out what's best for the dog. So fingers crossed the make the right decision. He loves their cat and also their horses, so it all seems to be pointing in the direction of them keeping him...

HEy,

      Great story!  Tell Tom to work throught the problems with the dog.  It is just like if you have a new baby there is an adjustment period.  If he keep the dog it will be the best dog he has ever had.  The best dogs I have had have been strays or dogs that have been beaten.  Unlike many people dogs always appricitate what you do for them.

This is such a great story...(except for the bit about the woman hitting the dog part)...

I once rescued a dog from an abusive home and she lived with us for 9 years...
She was always a little wary of brooms, sticks and bathrooms but all in all I think she was pretty happy to be with us...

Hi all!

thanks for the sweet replies! Well they still have the doggy. Last night he was good as gold, slept downstairs and didn't make a sound. And this morning Tom went for a long walk with him and was amazed at how well behaved he was, comes running when called etc.

Claudia (his wife) does want to keep him, then changes her mind again thinking about all the responsibility that comes with it. (they've got a little boy though, so it can't be worse than having a kid LOL!)

So they are keeping him for the time being... I am egging him on and telling him they should. I think it's more wifey, as she's at home most of the time and he works full time.

But it looks positive!

Haaa, a few more days with Bruno and Claudia will be so hooked she won't be able to say no.

You could always suggest Tom have a few chats with Bruno over the next few days telling him to be on his best behavior, and to work with Claudia to win her over.   Heeheee, it's amazing what dogs can comprehend when we speak to them.

Apparently this morning after they'd had a doubting conversation he walked into the hallway to see her sitting on the stairs with the cat on her knee (who incidentally didn't look impressed at all) and tried to get it to become friends with Bruno! Bruno was loving it and tried to get close to said grumpy pussycat

I have fantastic news!!


They are definitely keeping Bruno!

He settled in so well and is just the best-behaved dog they have ever encountered. He is really good with other children and animals as well, can't fault him. And they have this fantastic house in the middle of the country, a massive garden and horses. And the cat doesn't seem to mind him anymore.

And Claudia absolutely adores him!

And this week is the happiest I have ever seen Tom, he was positively glowing 
Tonight when he went home, he said he couldn't wait to see his doggy, then added, oh and my son and my wife... 

Hurrahh!!!

Aww, that's so great

They make a big deal here of trying to get tourists to adopt potcakes (indiginous wild dog population) ... they're going all over north america almost every time a plane takes off.  I know I wouldn't be without mine now, there's never a moment where I'm alone beit in the bedroom, kitchen, living room or toilet!!  My shadow is always right behind me
