Busy Mind during Reiki Treatment - Reason for Meditating

Che Guebuddha

Hi friends  :) and all the best in 2010 !

Do you experience busy mind when giving Reiki Treatment to others in person or distantly, or even to your self ??

I am asking this because of my latest experiences. I recently treated my wife and her mother (in person) and during the Reiki treatment my Mind was jumping all over the place. Physically I looked very calm but Mindwise I was not calm at all.

I have a serious feeling that with such a disturbed mind one is mixing other stuff into the Reiki treatment. Because of this I feel that Meditation plays a very important role in Reiki. Reiki (obviously) on it's own can not calm my mind but meditation can. In my opinion it is of great importance to have calm mind while giving treatments.

If Reiki "knows" where to go than It could go there without me channeling it at all. If this is true then Reiki could channel it self when ever people would ask It (or the Spirit, God, Good Fortune, for good health, etc ... ) , but in my experience it just didn't work like this.

Hoping and Knowing is not the same. Experiencing Is Knowing. Assuming Is Hoping. I choose Knowing.

I feel that channeling Reiki without our Mind being present and there in our One Centre (Seika Tanden) is like talking to a def and blind person. Yes we can talk but what good comes out of it? I am in search for KNOWING Reiki is flowing through me and KNOWING Reiki is empowering and healing by experiencing It.
In accordance to know Reiki I am to unite my Mind and Body first, otherwise I am just floating around without any direction, HOPING and NOT KNOWING.
I believe that Usui Intended to heal by Knowing through hi s actual Experience (he got through meditation) and not Intending to heal by Hoping because he was Assuming/Believing.

The mind has thousands of thoughts a minute. Sometimes when you calm your body and breath initially the mind looks busier than normal, but it is not, you are just seeing it more clearly. Just continue to observe and know that a calm body and breath will calm the mind after a few minutes. Also talk to your busy mind and Say, Mind I am performing Reiki here and now You will have my full attention later. Make sure you do give it attention later, do not train your mind to mistrust you.

RQ What part of your mind is served by saying the Reiki cannot (Obviously) calm you mind on its own.  I think it would be more healthy to at least be open to the possibilty that Reiki could be enough to calm the Mind.

I always try to spend at least 20 - 30 minutes grounding myself, practicing some deep breathing and performing reiki on myself before I do reiki on someone else.  My mind is constantly a flurry of thoughts - but primarily images during reiki.  I don't know what others experience, but I see vivid colors that shift with a warm and joyous feeling during the reiki session.  Sometimes, it takes a few moments for my mind and body to get in sync with the breathing patterns of the person I am giving reiki to.  As we become in sync with each other the thoughts seem to float away and only the lovely feeling is there.  After you have been doing reiki for awhile, you will find what feels right for you.

My mind is all over the place at the moment.  I am finding it is full of work, things i have done, things i need to do, things i should be doing but can't be bothered to do, just full of stuff.  I find it difficult to sleep and to turn it off, or at least down.

I am going to start to try and improve this - as if i can slow down in all aspects of my life maybe my connection with reiki will improve.
I am reading the reiki bible at the moment - something i picked up a month ago.  There are some breathing exercises in it at the beginning and I think i will start here and then move to meditation.  Meditation is something that i havent looked at and find hard to understand or practice but it would be good i think for me.

With reiki (regardless of my other worries/concerns) you do need to be quiet and focus on what you are doing as you and the person you are working with will benefit so much more.  I think.  :)

Hi shinto  :)

In my experience we can not benefit fully from Reiki without Meditation  :)  Without Meditation Reiki would never been born as such. Usui got attuned to Reiki via Meditation. Reiki Is not Usui's belongings It Is Universal and belongs to us all. We must become aware that to plug into the Universal we must unify our Mind (Spirit) and Body. Only like this our Divine Soul can plug into the Universal and be (as it Is to be) part of the Universal Ki (free flowing).

Everything is made of Ki so Is Reiki and you and me.

Universe has principles. One of them is Ki-breathing. Practice Ki-breathing every day for 15-30 minutes before going to bed or first thing in the morning (or both) and your mind will calm down with time (give it some time a few weeks or so), your Mind and Body will become One.
I use to perfrom Hatsurei-ho but it didn't make my Mind calmer as Ki-breathing is. Ki-breathing also cleanses our Mind and Body by enabling Universal Ki to freely flow through us. As we need water every day so do we need Ki-breathing. It is not a one time thing  ;)

If you have problems with making your self sit in meditation every day I can offer you my assistance by starting a new thread in our Meditation Forum/Board where you and I can Journal our every day and write a few words about our experience just to keep the consistency and keep on right track.

I am just about to go and read about breathing exercises in the reiki book i said about yesterday.  Its a case of having the dedication to do something and the want/need to see a change.  This is needed for me i think and to see/feel/sense reiki in the future.  So good idea RQ about the journal thread.  Although got to say - no idea about meditating and what it involves.
